Yesterday's BPAL:
Manhatten (sheer amber, black leather, white mint, lemon peel, white tea, grapefruit, kush, teakwood and orchid): This one was complex and interesting. It started out smelling like grapefruit, swiftly moved into something like a pleasant complex floral, then light lemon. Then I got light leather, maybe amber, maybe a touch of mint or tea. I liked it. Inoffensive drydown, faded fairly fast. (3.5)
Dirty (A fresh, crisp white linen scent: perfectly clean, perfectly breezy): A lovely clean, fresh, aquatic? scent, a bit like Lightning/Tempest, with a little edge of lemon. A relaxing smell I felt like I wanted to wrap myself in. It stayed pretty consistent for an hour or so, then developed a bit of a nose-wrinkling edge, but was still ok. (4)
Tweedledee (Kumquat, white pepper, white tea and orange blossom): This one was really neat: citrus but not too sour (it really does smell like kumquat...), a bit of pepper spikiness, and I thought I could also smell the tea and orange blossom. A citrusy fresh smell, not too sour but not too sweet, developing a very slight sweetness that I really liked. The spiciness came out again, and it stayed at a vague spiciness through the drydown. (4)
Golden Priapus (vanilla and amber with juniper, rosewood and white pine): Wet -- whoa, juniper. (Or maybe the pine -- I'm not sure I can distinguish them yet.) The evergreen faded back a little and some warmth came in. It turned into a combination of vanilla and juniper/pine, which was interesting, but a little odd, and I'm not sure I like juniper. Eventually the evergreen calmed down a lot more and the scent started to grow on me. (2.5)
Blood Pearl (soft orris, blood musk, and coconut): I completely couldn't identify notes in this. It had a sort of body heat smell, but in a good way. It ended up almost floral-ish. I suspect that the blood musk sort of overwhelmed everything else for me, and it was a perfectly nice smell, but I don't think I'd wear this. (3)
