Mag Mell (The warmth of amber, the puissance of white ginger and the clarity of verbena, with fresh green grass, lush sage and cleansing droplets of summer rain) : Wet, this was strong ginger. Then the lemon verbena came in, then the grass/rain, then some warmth from the amber, and maybe a touch of herby sage. This was a nice fresh smell with amber/ginger. Faded away very fast, down to just a little ginger, but my skin was super-dry. (3.5)
The Lion (A golden, spiced amber, proud, regal and ferocious) : I hoped this would be my all-amber-all-the-time smell, since I liked the amber in Brisingamen but not the yucky note that tainted it. However, it was not to be. In the vial, this smelled like spices, and when I put it on, I smelled cinnamon and was afraid it would turn into bath-of-redhots. However, the cinnamon wasn't overpowering, so maybe it was cassia instead. There was a lovely golden smell when the amber came in. Sadly, it then got a little soapy, and the nice amber/spice had these niggling soapy bits that kept me from thoroughly enjoying it. (2.5)
Tweedledum (Green mango, fig, patchouli and green tea) : When I first put this on, I couldn't smell any patchouli at all, just a fairly nice green/fig smell. The patchouli crept in gradually though, first as a very light edge, and then making the scent have a vaguely gritty note I didn't like. The smell retained a sweetness that was nice, but I think the patchouli taint made it eh. (2)
Devil's Claw (A yellow-bright and smoky brown-black scent, horned, pronged and strange) : In the vial: strong smoke! On me, smoke, and maybe some patchouli? (Not horrific, though.) This reminded me in a way of Brimstone, but a brown smell instead of Brimstone's grey grit. It dried into a smokey slight sweetness that I found oddly pleasant, though I wouldn't want to wear it for myself. Seems to me this is a very distinctive smell that could work well for some NPC -- especially a demonic one. :-) (2.5)
Ave Maria Gratia Plena (Rosewood with Sicilian lemon peel, red Mysore sandalwood, pale musks, sweet mountain sage and a dusting of lily, night-blooming jasmine and orris) : Started as pleasant medium floral with a touch of lemon. Some nice musk warmth came in briefly, and then the scent turned more floral again. A bit reminiscent of Delight, a floral I like. Pleasant medium floral drydown. Overall I think this is more floral than I'd want to wear, but not offensive. (3)
Rome (cypress, juniper, chamomile and rose) : Wet -- oh, that must be Juniper, that bright smell -- and herby chamomile. Whoa, now evergreen -- but an evergreen I don't think I like, with an edge that reminds me a bit of urine. Maybe an edge of rose. As it dried down, this became a nicer fresh evergreen/floral, but with occasional whiffs of the yucky edge, like I had with Brisingamen, and occasional bits of a nice warmer smell I liked (reminiscent of amber/musk/Yule). As it dried, the unpleasant edge went away. (2)
