Jun. 12th, 2006 03:58 pmThis weekend I did not go to Madrigal. I am interested in hearing about all the cool stuff, and how things ended up, and the awesome special effects, and seeing pictures of what was apparently an amazing costume, and hearing a recording of the madrigals. :-)
But I was really glad I didn't go, especially because of the continuing deluge, and the fact that I still ache a lot and slept for 12 hours a night.
Instead of larping, I did the following things for the first times ever:
- painted wood blanks with greenwood sealer
- went to IKEA
- ate at 'El Serape'
- saw Clue
( wood stuff )
IKEA: damn. Huge thanks to kelilah and J for bringing us there and spending the many hours it took to go through things. I have now a lot of the kitchenware, closetware, and random extra furniture I need. Still need more shelving in the giant hallway closet for providing better storage; will hopefully figure out an inexpensive solution. Ikea was having a sale on 6' bookcases for $30, but we couldn't fit them in the car in any reality near this one.
'Flames...on the side..of my face!' Now I understand.
Also, my phone's display crapped out, causing an interesting day of half-phone-dom. As it's bad not to have a working cell when it's your only phoneline, I went to the Verizon store today to get a replacement phone, and it took me, like, half a day. Much longer than I expected. But the upshot was that I got crazy-advanced camera/music/who knows what the hell phones for both me and wirednavi for free, and a cell plan that will cover both of us for about $30 more than I'm paying now, on which we won't get charged for talking to each other. So, that was reasonably successful.
So, for all those I told my phone wasn't working, it should be now, except I have no idea how to work it yet. :-) Phone number is the same, of course. And they did transfer my phonebook, so I shouldn't even have to ask for everyone's numbers all over again.
