Sep. 25th, 2006 01:38 pmI had a weekend without larping!
I went to services. I went to a dessert party. (Making up in small portion for missing all the awesome Isles baking competition entries.) I went to more services. I cleaned up a big section of my room, and worked on some overdue projects. I ate lots of Challah and apples and honey. I read Torah. I made noodle pudding, under my mom's supervision. With my aunt's help, I trued up my grinder and sharpened a roughing gouge. Ok, she mostly sharpened it, but I got the tool rest in place, and I should be able to sharpen it now myself, if not well. I made a round stick. Then I slathered it with greenwood sealer and put it back in the garage, and cleaned up the shop.
Having a woodshop in my basement is really neat. Putting two workbenches and a set of shelves in there really made the place work. There's still wallspace for some more shelving, which I'm sure I'll need -- the shelves in there now are already filled up.
I am really awfully excited about having made a stick. Tonight, maybe I can make another one!
Of course, I also need to make some costuming. But hopefully there is time for one stick tonight. I should also see if I can pick up a rubber mallet on my way home, for pounding the drive center into the new stick-to-be. We've been using a block of wood, but it's splitting.
